Oh what a year!

Here is the almost obligatory looking back post.
At this time last year we were in the midst of trying to figure out just how exactly we were going to pay for DE IVF while still wrapping our heads around that fact that we would have to use a donor or pursue adoption if we wanted to have children after facing our last failed IUI cycle. Now of course I am wondering just how life is going to be changing within the next few days/weeks as we quickly approach the birth of our miracle baby. If you recall, our cycle with my sister as a donor was less than stellar - she did not respond as we all expected and we were faced with the decision to cancel and look for an unknown donor or continue, we decided to continue and we had only three eggs fertilized normally - all of which looked good and were transferred on day 3. Thankfully, though the odds were stacked against us, one of those embabies decided to stick around for the long haul! Everything obviously fell into place, but that does not mean there were not some rocky moments.
I was blessed to meet a fellow blogger IRL and am so excited for her since she has received the greatest Christmas gift of all: a positive and appropriately rising beta! Congratulations Waiting and Wishing!!! There were several other positive betas around the same time, and while I am not linking to them all here, I am very excited for all of you!
"Meeting" you all has been one of the wonderful things of this year. You have inspired me and given me hope for the future as we not only anticipate the birth of our little girl, but as we contemplate how we will go about expanding our family in the future.
As this new year begins I have many hopes for what is to come. Last year ended with a bang as we found and put an offer on a home in Colorado - with the move coming up much faster than I probably even realize! R leaves tonight for a job interview that, if he gets it (he will!!!), will provide us with much financial security as we contemplate the changes that are on the horizon.
I am praying that 2012 is a wonderful year for all of you as well - for those who are celebrating a positive beta and anxiously awaiting the arrival of your bundle(s) of joy to those of you who are still seeking the oh so elusive positive beta.
Thank you all for the support you have given me!
Happy New Year!!

  1. Happy New Year to you, too! Thanks so much for the uplifting post. Your miracle makes me smile and gives me hope that this 3rd IVF will work.
